Find Hope Through The Gifts of Making
Many stories live quietly beneath the surface Waiting to Be Heard— stories of suffering, beauty, and becoming.Shepherd’s Rest Studio exists to make space for those stories to be seen, honored, and gently held. We believe God invites us to use our hands, through the gifts of making, to tell our stories and the Story of our Good Shepherd, God with us.
Shepherd’s Rest Studio was born from a simple conviction:
That God meets us not only in words, but in the faithful work of our hands. This studio exists to offer rest for weary souls — where creativity is not rushed, productivity is not demanded, and beauty is allowed to emerge slowly.
We believe making can be a form of prayer. That creating can become a way of listening. And that healing often begins when we stop striving.
Whether you are learning to garden, decorate, paint, keep bees, or simply cultivate beauty in your space, there is a place for you here.
Shepherd’s Rest is shaped by a theology of making that values rest before fruit, roots before bloom, and presence before performance.
Scripture tells a story of a Shepherd who leads His people beside still waters — not toward endless productivity, but toward restoration. Here, making is not about mastery or output.
It is about stewardship integrating with faith.
About Trusting the creator and becoming a co-creator.
About allowing God to bring beauty from ashes as we cultivate beauty in our broken world.
About planting a seed in the dark earth of our circumstances and trusting good to grow.Psalm 23 · Isaiah 61 · Isaiah 43
Shepherd’s Rest is rooted in the town it inhabits.
Travelers’ Rest has long been a place where the weary paused — where travelers and their herds rested for the night before continuing their journey.
It is a story of refuge and restoration, beginning with the land.
Here at Shepherd’s Rest Studio, we offer collaborative workshops to bring people back to the simplicity of creating with our hands, cultivating beauty in our space, stewarding the land, and living in community.
We begin again with our Creator, and we are stronger when we create in connection with others.
